I never told you much about your father. Whenever you asked me about his side of the family, I said I didn't know. But that wasn't the truth.
Forgive me. I have kept a secret from you for so long, but now you know who you truly are. It is true: your father's uncle was Sherlock Holmes.
The whole Holmes family are master detectives. They have a gift. Your father wanted to follow in his uncle's footsteps, solving crimes and uncovering the truth. Just like his Uncle Sherlock, there was no case he couldn't crack - every bad guy knew it. And every bad guy wanted to stop him. I begged him to stop before he upset someone dangerous, but he wouldn't listen. He told me "No bad guy will ever kill Graham Holmes" - he was wrong.
I should have told you earlier, but I just couldn't bear the thought of the same thing happening to you. I knew you were bound to figure it out sooner or later - you are a Holmes after all.
If you're reading this, you're every bit the detective your father was, and Sherlock Holmes before him. There won't be a case you can't crack. Just be careful it doesn't crack you.
I love you Charlotte.
